I think I will check this out indeed.
I like how the rock itself kinda looks like a mug; handle arch on the left, lid above the city...'tis a drinking town, mate!

Now is your chance to win both published books in the Dark & Day series!

Step 1. Simple go to the Dark & Day Facebook page [link]

Step 2. Add your comment on the Wall with what it is about Dark & Day that interests you!
Is it the epic fantasy v. scifi style? Like the YA genre? A particular character? (like Jono? Commander Grail? the Sage of Ages?) or a particular art work? (Tyler Edlin’s City of Eies? Andrew Hou’s Withering Mark cover? Robert Kim’s Jono at Al Jebra? Lokman Lam’s Grown up Keiko?)

Step 3. Look for a winner on the Dark & Day Facebook page!

This is a really cool scenery. I like how the city is expansive, yet left the top cliff as a huge cork.

Makes you wonder if the ships actually have anywhere to go, being inside a closed valley like that! :D

In the story (Dark & Day 2: the Withering Mark), there is a vast web of caverns and cities beneath the ground. ;)

God, I wish I could draw like that. Sometimes I have to scribble poses out when I'm animating and I have a hard enough time doing that. This is absolutely gorgeous work.

There are cities underneath the ground that the ships sail to. In this world, one side of Earth is under a perpetual sun, so many people on this extreme end live in caves and tunnel cities. :)

for some reason it reminds me of the classic box and twig trap; like the guy atop the cliff is watching as the city slowly approaches their demise. but thats prolly not it at all lol awesome illustration regardless
